Taken on a visit to what is now the MV Agusta factory, this central display tells you that it was once the Aermacchi seaplane base. Some hangers open onto Lake Varese ready for launch – even in the rain it’s quite a sight. Post war, barred from making aircraft, Aermacchi pivoted to motorcycles, eventually selling out to Harley Davidson and using US dollars and Italian know how to win four motorcycle roadracing world championships.
