Unfaithfully yours

Fame at last! Unfaithful to Benzina, my piece on Lino Tonti makes the cover of the latest issue of The Classic MotorCycle, featuring some wonderful Moto Guzzi V-twins and Martin Squire’s fabulous illustrations. The Le Mans is many people’s favourite V-twin, although the V7 Sport telaio rosso is the purist’s choice and is what editor James Robinson put on the cover – swipe for more images, including a great cutaway drawing of the Guzzi V-twin, which BTW was never intended for a tractor or three wheeler, despite what you might have read.

I caught up with James and Martin at Bonhams’ winter sale in December at the Bicester Heritage centre. The 1920s hanger we use is a wonderful building but for the first few days maximum temperatures failed to hit two degrees centigrade. James has a great piece on the event in the magazine, and there’s a photo of me lurking behind the most valuable lot – the £276,000 Brough Superior SS100. Pure coincidence…
